Martinez and Brown shine as BYU athletes set bevy of personal records

STANFORD, California – Shea Martinez and Kelsey Brown-Gilbert highlighted BYU track and field's trip to the Stanford Invitational with blistering times in the 800 meters this weekend.

Martinez finished with a time of 2:05.00, good for third among attached collegiate runners. The sophomore's performance in the race marked her third time of 2:05.00 or better in the 800 meters and the best outdoor time of her career. Brown-Gilbert, a senior, finished sixth among attached collegiate runners with a time of 2:06.22.

Carrie Jube broke her personal record in the 10,000 meters by minute with her time of 33:56.87. Makenna Smith finished 25 seconds ahead of her previous personal record in the 5,000 meters with a time of 16:11.60.

On the men's side, Steve Flint and Dallin Farnsworth impressed with their performances in the 5,000 meters. Flint, a senior, ran a personal record and what is now the 10 best outdoor time (13:51.98) in school history. Farnworth, a freshman, finished just behind Flint with a personal record of 13:53.38.

Freshman Connor McMillan finished the 10,000 meters with a time of 29:13.87.

BYU track and field next competes at the Sun Angel Classic in Tempe, Arizona beginning on April 10.
