Giddings Named MWC Athlete of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS -- BYU sprinter Porshe Giddings, a senior, has been named the Mountain West Conference Women’s Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Week for her performance at the Snake River Open at Idaho State on Saturday.
Giddings led the Cougars with first-place finishes in the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash. Her time in the 60m, 7.56, marks a career high and is the second-fastest time run in the MWC this season. Giddings also contributed to the winning 4x400m relay team that finished the race in 3:50.88, a time that also ranks second in the conference.
Giddings is in her second year as a member of the BYU track and field team after transferring from Northeastern University in 2010. This is Giddings’ first career MWC Athlete of the Week award.
