PHILADELPHIA — BYU women's track and field's distance medley relay team made history at Franklin Field on Friday, winning the event, and the first wheel in school history, at the Penn Relays with a time of 10:50.22.

Lauren Ellsworth-Barnes ran a 3:18.22 split in the 1,200-meters, Alena Ellsworth a 53.63 in the 400-meters, Claire Seymour clocked a 2:05.95 800-meters and Courtney Wayment anchored the 1600-meters, closing out the victory with a 4:32.39.

The quartet also crushed the program's previous record of 10:57.51 set in 1999 and now own the No. 3 all time in Penn Relays women's DMR history.

The Cougars will conclude Penn Relays competition on Saturday, with the 4x1500-meter relay scheduled for 12:30 p.m. EDT and the 4x800 slated for 2:47 p.m.
