Wilson and Simmons finish in top three of heptathlon
PROVO, Utah – Elizabeth Wilson and Brie Simmons finished second and third overall in the women’s heptathlon Thursday to lead the BYU women's track & field team in the opening days of the annual BYU Robison Invitational.
Teammate Sidney Reilly placed sixth overall. All three Cougars finished in the same place they held following day one of the heptathlon. Each finished with a personal best in the overall heptathlon.
Wilson finished with 5,046 points. She finished second in the long jump (18-01.75), third in the javelin (105-03.00) and fifth in the 800 (2:25.87).
Simmons finished with 4,890 points, a personal best by almost 400 points. She placed first in the long jump (18-03.25), sixth in the javelin (98-00.50) and fourth in the 800 (2:25.36).
Reilly concluded the competition with 4,605 points, also a new personal best by almost 400 points. Reilly placed fourth in the long jump (17-01.00), eighth in the Javelin (79-06.25) and second in the 800 (2:19.24).
The Cougars continue competition at the Robison Invitational Friday beginning with the women’s shot put at 10 a.m. MDT.
