2013 softball broadcast plans announced

PROVO, Utah -- Broadcast plans for the 2013 softball season were announced Friday and the BYU softball team will play 16 nationally-televised games on BYUtv. Fifteen games will also be aired live on BYU Radio.  

Last year, BYUtv televised 15 games and has upped its number by one this season. The broadcasts will give Cougar fans around the country a chance to follow BYU throuhgout most of its home competitions. The team will play in its first year in the Pacific Coast Softball Conference for a chance to win its fifth-straigh conference championship and advance to its ninth-straight NCAA postseason appearance.

The Cougars are coming off of a 45-win season in 2012 in which they won the Western Athletic Conference Championship and advanced to the NCAA Oregon Regional. The Cougars are led by senior shortstop and All-American JC Clayton, senior pitcher Hannah Howell and junior pitcher Tori Almond. Head coach Gordon Eakin will be entering his 11th season with a record of 416-175. 

BYUtv will broadcast the three home series against PCSC teams--Loyola Marymount, Cal State Bakersfield and Saint Mary's. 

The non-conference home games against Marist, Houston and SUU will also be televised. All of these games will also be aired live on BYU Radio.
