Career Summary

Coming to BYU out of Bingham High School, Tori Almond had a successful pitching career. She earned wins against four top-25 teams throughout her time as a Cougar. In 2012, she was named to the NFCA All-Pacific Region Second Team. As a senior, she was named to the All-WCC First Team in BYU's first year in the conference. She threw two no-hitters in her career, one solo and one combined. Almond finished on many of the career and season lists at BYU, including in wins, complete games, shutouts, saves, innings pitched, strikeouts, strikeouts per 7 innings and ERA.

Freshman Year 2011

  • Led the Mountain West Conference in earned runs allowed (38) and runs allowed (42)
  • Fifth in the conference in ERA (3.13) and in total wins (10)
  • Two-time MWC Pitcher of the Week (3/15, 4/26)
  • Started and pitched two innings against Ole Miss, getting the first strikeout of her career and allowing no hits in a no-decision
  • Earned first win of her career against Cal State Northridge, pitching all seven innings with a career-high six strikeouts while allowing zero runs and three hits
  • Earned a win vs. No. 9 UCLA, striking out seven and allowing just four hits
  • Threw 4.0 innings vs. No. 9 Cal, striking out six batters
  • Threw a complete-game shutout against Seattle with six strikeouts, three hits and two walks
  • Had a career-high eight strikeouts in just four innings in a win over Southern Utah
  • Picked up a win over Colorado State, pitching a complete-game shutout in five innings with seven strikeouts

  • Pitcher of record in both of BYU's wins in the Eugene Regional, allowing one hit and no runs in 3.0 innings against Mississippi State. Also threw seven strikeouts with no walks or runs and just two hits in a complete game shutout against Portland State
  • Earned win against No. 11 Hawaii in WAC Tournament with six strikeouts, no runs and three hits in 3.2 innings
  • Earned all three wins in a two-day series against San Jose State
  • Won 10-straight decisions at the end of the season

Junior Year 2013

  • Pitched the first no-hitter of her career with five strikeouts against Saint Mary's (5/4)

  • Struck out a career-high 13 batters in her first start of the season against Seattle, giving up just three hits in a complete game and shutout
  • Pitched a full game against Hawai’i en route to a 4-2 upset of the No. 20 Rainbow Wahine
  • Gave up just one earned run on three hits in 8.2 innings pitched against San Diego along with five strikeouts 
  • Pitched her fifth complete game of the season with 10 strikeouts against Santa Clara to earn the win
  • Pitched a complete game against Saint Mary's on May 3 and gave up just one earned run with six strikeouts
  • Defeated in-state rival Utah, giving up just three hits with four strikeouts
  • Started 27 games with 33 appearances and seven complete games
Senior Year 2014

  • All-WCC First Team
  • Ranked No. 99 nationally in strikeouts per seven innings
  • Ended the season with a 2.58 ERA
  • Struck out seven batters against North Dakota State
  • Retired all three batters she faced to get the save against No. 2 Tennessee
  • Combined with McKenna Bull and Ashley Thompson in her second career no-hitter
  • Went five innings and allowed one run to help BYU defeat Pacific in the first game of their series
  • Came in and did not allow a run over the last 3.1 innings of the final game against Pacific
  • Lead BYU to two victories over Saint Mary's in the final series of the season allowing two earned runs and striking out 10
  • Two-time WCC Pitcher of the Week the final two weeks of the regular season
  • Pitched 4.2 innings and gave up two runs in a win over Northwestern in the Washington Regional
