Eakin announces signing of transfer Lyndsey Madrigal
PROVO, Utah — BYU softball head coach Gordon Eakin has announced the signing of transfer catcher Lyndsey Madrigal, who will join the Cougars for the 2024 season.
A Price, Utah native and Carbon High School graduate, Madrigal is a 5-foot-6 catcher who will come to Provo after two seasons at Salt Lake Community College (SLCC).
Madrigal batted .493 with a 1.104 slugging percentage and .575 on-base percentage in 74 games across the 2022 and 2023 seasons for the Bruins, totaling 157 RBI and 156 hits.
Named a NJCAA All-American each of the last two seasons, Madrigal also set SLCC's single-season home run record this past year with 37.
Madrigal joins transfers Lily Owens and Aleia Agbayani, as well as Kate Dahle, Abbey Gillespie, Olivia Laney, and Gianna Mares as the seven members of BYU’s 2023 recruiting class.
