
Road wins at UNLV lead BYU to undefeated fall season

LAS VEGAS – After a pair of wins at UNLV on Saturday afternoon, BYU softball finished its fall exhibition season undefeated.
The Cougars swept the Runnin Rebels in a doubleheader 15-9 and 5-2. This was the only road trip of the fall season for BYU.
In the first game, both teams were hitting lights out, but the Cougars ended up winning 15-9. In the game, there were nine total home runs, seven from BYU. Libby Sugg and McKenzie St. Clair each had a pair of home runs. Alexa Strid and Ashley Thompson also added homers, one apiece. After falling behind 9-6, the Cougars scored 11 unanswered runs in the final three innings.
The second game saw fewer runs with the battle taking place in the cirlce. BYU ended up with the 5-2 edge after McKenna Bull pitched four scoreless innings and Olivia Sanchez gave up just two runs.
The Cougars’ regular season will begin in February.
