Career Highlights

Libby Sugg has made her mark in the BYU record books through her four seasons with the Cougars. A 2018 NFCA Third Team All-American was BYU’s starting catcher for all four seasons. She finished her career in BYU's career record books at No. 1 in sacrifice flies (15), No. 2 in doubles (47) and RBI (211), No. 3 in slugging percentage (.666), chances (1206) and putouts (1119), No. 4 in homers (49), total bases (420) and walks (106), No. 5 in games started (225) and caught stealing by (28), No. 6 in games played (228), No. 8 in batting average (.355), No. 9 in hits (224) and No. 10 in at bats (631) and on-base percentage (.443). After her senior season, she ranked among active career leaders at No. 4 in RBI, No. 10 in home runs, No. 13 in total bases, No. 20 in doubles, No. 33 in walks and No. 35 in games played. Throughout her career she earned many national and conference awards including NFCA All-Pacific Region teams in 2017 and 2018. Following her career at BYU, she was drafted ninth in the Softball American draft to the E1 Pro Ballers of Mobile, Alabama.

Before BYU

  • After her senior season, named Franklin High School’s Most Athletic Female and received the Wilco Award for Softball Player of the Year
  • 2015 District 11-AAA Co-Player of the Year and named to the 2015 Tennessean First Team All-Midstate
  • Three-time Tennessee Sports Writers Association First Team All-State selection
  • Led high school team in all offensive categories each year and finished as the all-time career leader in: batting average (.540), runs (137), hits (163), doubles (41), home runs (40), runs batted in (157), walks (137), on base percentage, .(670), slugging percentage (1.080) and on base + slugging (1.760)
  • Also holds single-season records for batting average (.571), runs (42), hits (53), doubles (16), home runs (15), runs batted in (53), walks (46), on base percentage (.747), slugging percentage (1.234) and on base + slugging (1.884)
  • Led team and district with a .564 batting average average, 3 home runs and 20 RBI
  • Played club ball for the Birmingham Thunderbolts, but previously played for Tennessee Fury 97, winning two ASA/USA National Championships–one with the 14U-A team in 2012 and the other with 16 Gold in 2014
  • Earned letters in volleyball as well
