PROVO, Utah - Senior Miles Batty hopes to become a part of track history on Saturday when he participates in the Wanamaker Mile as part of the 2012 Millrose Games.

“There has always been a lot of tradition associated with the Millrose Games and I'm proud to be a part of Wanamaker Mile as it takes a new direction in the Armory,” Batty said.

Batty will be among six talented collegiate middle distance runners that will compete in the NYRR Wanamaker Mile at the 105th Millrose Games, with the goal of breaking the indoor mile collegiate record.

The record which Batty will attempt to break is German Fernandez's collegiate record of 3:55.02 set in College Station, Texas, in 2009. Batty, the reigning NCAA indoor champion in the mile, has a personal best of 3:55.79.

Southern Utah’s Cam Levins is among the other runners participating in the Wanamaker Mile, along with Tulsa’s Chris O’Hare, Columbia’s Kyle Merber, Erik Van Ingen of SUNY Binghamton and Oklahoma Christian University’s Silas Kisorio.

The 2012 Millrose Games are scheduled to take place at the Armory's New Balance Track & Field Center in New York City. The Wanamaker Mile will be streamed live on YouTube and begins at 7:49 p.m. MT on Saturday.
