Batty and Fisher Win MWC Athlete of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS -- BYU junior Miles Batty has been selected as Mountain West Conference men's indoor track & field athlete of the week, while BYU sophomore Rachel Fisher has been named the women's indoor track & field athlete of the week.

Hailing from Sandy, Utah, Batty earned first-place honors in the mile run at the BYU Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 8, in Provo, Utah. The junior posted an altitude-adjusted time of 3:59.27, which is a personal best for Batty and the fastest time in the NCAA this season, according to TFRRS.org.

Fisher, from Allen, Texas, claimed the women’s pole vault title at the BYU Invitational last Saturday. Fisher made her season debut in Provo, clearing the pole with a mark of 13’-1.5” (4.00m) on her second attempt to garner first-place accolades. Her jump ranks first in the MWC this season and seventh in the country, according to TFRRS.org.
