Three Meets on the Horizon for Track and Field

PROVO -- Splitting between three meets this weekend, the BYU track and field teams will travel to Ogden and Arizona to compete at the Weber State Invitational, Mesa Classic and Arizona State Invitational beginning on Friday.

“It’s going to be a great weekend,” said BYU men’s track and field head coach Mark Robison. “We are finally midseason, and we have had some very good performances. Now we just need to keep improving.”

At Weber, the No. 24 men’s team will begin Saturday’s events with the hammer throw at 10 a.m. MT and will continue until 5:45 p.m. MT, ending with the men’s 4x400 meter relay.

The women’s team will begin Saturday’s events at Weber State with the long jump and shot put at 10 a.m. MT and will end at 5:55 p.m. MT with the 4x400 meter relay.

Competing both Friday and Saturday in Arizona. the Cougars will represent BYU in the Mesa Classic on Friday and at the Arizona State Invitational on Saturday.

“We’re looking forward to competing in warm weather,” said BYU women’s head track and field coach Craig Poole. “Our objective is to go down there compete hard and try and earn more NCAA Regional qualifying marks.”

At ASU the Cougars will take on ASU (No.16), Alabama, Auburn (No.20), CSU, Illinois, Minnesota (No. 23), Texas (No.8) and Wyoming, to name a few. Events are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. PT with the men’s discus, continuing until 10:30 p.m. PT.
