Menlove Named MWC Track & Field Student-Athlete of the Year

COLORADO SPRINGS -- BYU All-American Amy Menlove was selected by Mountain West Conference head coaches as the MWC Track and Field Student-Athlete of the Year on Thursday.

“It’s an incredible honor,” Menlove said. “Honestly, I wouldn’t be where I am without God, my family, the coaching staff and my teammates. I’m so lucky to have such an amazing support group.”

Menlove, a Sandy, Utah, native, finished her indoor season earning an NCAA individual national championship in the women's pentathlon with a program and conference record of 4,365 points.

“I’m so proud of Amy,” said BYU women’s head track and field coach Craig Poole. “This is great for her and BYU. She exemplifies what BYU is all about and I’m happy the MWC recognized her efforts.”

Menlove’s 2009 campaign was highlighted by two MWC Player of the Week awards, the MWC Championship high point award, being named the USTFCCCA Mountain Region Women’s Field Athlete of the Year, winning the national championship in the pentathlon, earning All-America honors in the long jump and now being named the MWC Student-Athlete of the Year.

Menlove will take the next week off to get married. She will return to action immediately after for the out-door season.
