Arrhenius Receives All-America

COLLEGE STATION -- Finishing up the NCAA Indoor Championships, junior All-American Leif Arrhenius placed 11th in the weight throw with a distance of 20.06 meters (65 feet 9.75 inches) and second All-America title.

“We were just okay today,” said BYU men’s track and field head coach Mark Robison. “It’s still great that he placed as well as he did, but we just haven’t been able to do as well as we wanted to do this weekend.”

Arrhenius went into the competition ranked 12th nationally with a season best distance of 20.82 meters to qualify for the championships.

“I felt kind of bad about the performance today,” said Arrhenius. “It just wasn’t a great day. The team has been trying to get over being sick and we just weren’t at our top level this weekend. Today really was not anything special, we need to just try and get feeling better before outdoor season starts now.

The Cougars return home to begin preparation for the outdoor season. Its first meet will be the ASU Invitational in Tempe, Ariz. on March 20.
