PROVO -- Senior Whitney Neves and freshman Rhyan Atrice have been selected as this week’s BYU Track and Field players of the week for the men’s track and field team.

“These two athletes really did well in their events,” said BYU men’s track and field head coach Mark Robison. “They each placed first and did a great job representing our team.”

Both athletes were selected based on their performances last weekend at the Bengal Shootout hosted by Idaho State.

Neves competed in the pole vault and placed first, clearing a height of 17 feet .75 inches, while Atrice placed first in the 400m with a time of 49.31.

The two Cougars are currently placed second in the Mountain West Conference Indoor Performance List. Neves’ height also granted him provisional qualifying marks for Nationals.

The men’s track team will compete again this weekend in Albuquerque, N.M. at the Cherry and Silver Invitational.
