Track Teams Hit the Road

PROVO -- After an impressive home opening meet the BYU track teams head to Pocatello, Idaho to build on their success at the Bengal Shootout this Friday.

The one-day meet will follow a dual scoring format similar to the Mountain West Conference Championships and NCAA Championships. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. MST and includes athletes from BYU, Cal State Northridge, Southern Utah, Weber State and Idaho State.

“We’re trying to get ready by making some improvements from last week’s meet,” said BYU men’s track head coach Mark Robison. “Right now we just need some competition and I’m excited for this event to give that to us.”

The BYU men and women’s track teams enter its first away meet of the season with added confidence after several provisional national qualifying marks and meet records were set at home recently at the BYU Cougar Indoor Invitational.

“We had a strong start to our season last week and we look forward to getting back out there and competing,” said BYU women’s track head coach Craig Poole. “Our focus will be on personal bests and improving technique.”

The Bengal Shootout will be a condensed format with all men and women’s events taking place on Friday.
