Track & Field Season Opens at Boise State

PROVO -- The men and women's track and field teams will kick off their indoor season at the Boise State Invitational, Saturday at 9:30 a.m.

This season, the men's team will look to defend its second-place conference finish and its 15th-place finish at nationals. BYU should put together one of its best track and field teams in several years, with the pole vault, 800m and the decathlon being the strongest events. The jumpers and the distance runners will also show a great deal of improvement.

This year, the women's track team will battle for its 21st straight outdoor conference title and its fourth straight Mountain West Conference Indoor and Outdoor Championships. The team will look to improve on last year's ties for 16th place and 10th place at the indoor and outdoor national championships, respectively. The distance team is traditionally strong for BYU and this season the jumpers should also do well.

The meet will be held at Boise State in Boise, Idaho. The field events will go from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and the track events will start at 10 a.m. and finish at 3 p.m.
