NEW ORLEANS – The US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) ranked the BYU men’s track and field team No. 3 in the nation on Monday.

The Cougars moved up three spots to garner their highest USTFCCCA ranking since the ratings began in 2008. The 12th-ranked BYU women’s team remained in the top 15 nationally for the third week in a row.

Four BYU men’s athletes ran times last week at the Payton Jordan Invitational that placed them in the top-5 in the NCAA in their events. All-Americans Connor McMillan and Rory Linkletter ran the fastest and second-fastest 10,000m in the NCAA this season. In the 5000m, Conner Mantz ran the third-fastest time and Clayton Young earned the fifth-fastest time nationally this season.

The USTFCCCA also released its event squad rankings with the Cougars holding six of the top-ranked squads. The BYU men’s team currently has the top-ranked 3000m steeplechase, 10,000m and decathlon squads while the women’s team secured the top-ranked 800m, 1500m and 3000m steeplechase squads.

The official national ratings and event squad rankings can be found on ustfccca.org.
