PROVO, Utah – Top-ranked athletes Jason Witt and Shaquille Walker lead BYU track and field as the team takes 45 qualified entries into the NCAA West Preliminaries in Austin, Texas Thursday.

Complete list of qualified BYU athletes

“We’re excited about how many BYU athletes have qualified, and we’re proud of them,” BYU head coach Ed Eyestone said. “The goal, however, is to qualify for the championships. We want to get as many athletes as we can to Oregon so we can score as many points as possible as a team."

Witt and Walker qualified as the West Region's top 10,000m and 800m runners, respectively.

Athletes qualified for the meet by finishing in the top 48 in any individual event or in the top 24 in a relay. Individuals and relay teams placing in the top 12 in Austin will qualify for the NCAA Championships in two weeks in Eugene, Oregon.

The meet will run from Thursday to Saturday at Mike A. Myers Stadium at the University of Texas. Broadcast details and other meet information can be found at texassports.com.
