Albuquerque, N.M.-- Braydon Bringhurst led a group of solid performances for BYU men's track & field at the Lobo Invitational Saturday.

“For the first road trip of the year we came together and performed well,” BYU head coach Ed Eyestone said. “We saw personal bests everywhere. I was particularly impressed with our vaulters. Out team realizes that the training they are doing is yielding dividends and we are looking forward to future meets to keep improving.”

The Cougars took two of the top three spots in the pole vault, with Bringhurst taking first with a mark of 5.50m, a height good for fourth all-time at BYU and one that should qualify him for the national meet. Kyle Brown finished in third (5.05m).

“That's what we like to see, especially from our team captains,” Eyestone said. “I was very happy about that.”

Mario Harper finished in fourth place in the 400m dash with a time of 48.72, a new indoor personal best. Craig Merkley also set a new personal record in the weight throw with a mark of 18.66m, good for first place overall. Korey Smith finished in second place in the 600m in 1:20.34.

Bejon Bryant led the Cougars in the 60m hurdles in 8.36 seconds. Tommy Gruenewald ran a 4:15.67 mile to finish in third place.

Zach Stetler took third place in the shot put, finishing with a throw of 16.94m. Zach Blackham was the highest placing Cougar in the high jump, taking second place with a mark of 2.05m.
