Fishburn in top-10, BYU finishes fourth after day one
LIHUE, Hawai’i — BYU men’s golf currently sits in fourth place after the first round of the John Burns Intercollegiate on Wednesday.
"We played solid golf most of the day, and then we struggled," BYU head coach Bruce Brockbank said. "Patrick (Fishburn) and Spencer (Dunaway) made a bunch of birdies in the middle of the round. We need to figure out a way to finish our rounds. We are still in a good position, but we need to go have a really good round tomorrow from the whole team if we are going to have a chance to make a run at the tournament on Friday."
BYU looks to garner what would be its fourth first-place finish of the 2016-17 campaign, and first of the spring season.
The No. 46 ranked Cougars shot 4-under-par (284) through the first 18 holes as a team, and sit behind Virginia, Texas A&M and UNLV. Virginia leads all teams shooting 20-under-par. West Coast Conference foe Santa Clara is in fifth place at 1-under-par.

Spencer Dunaway and CJ Lee finished the day both tied for 51st place, each shooting 2-over-par.
Zach Pritchard and Austen Christiansen both competed in the event individually. Pritchard also finished the day at 2-over-par and is tied for 51st place. Christiansen rounded out the scoring, shooting 4-over-par and is currently in 69th place.
