Postgame Quotes
BYU head coach Dave Rose

“I thought that playing against a team that really likes to control the tempo gave us an opportunity to try and force our pace. I thought that they did a really good job at times taking us out of things and denying things, which caused us to kind of get confused. But I thought that we adjusted well. There were a lot of things that we did well in this game but there are a lot of things that we can learn from. I think that it’s a good step in our process of getting better. I look forward to evaluating this tape and getting back on Monday and getting ready for the start of the season next week.”

On Brandon Davies wearing former teammate Chris Collinsworth’s jersey, #41:
“That’s a pretty sensitive subject because Brandon is so close to that family. He talked about a lot of things to honor Chris, including switching his number to 41 at the beginning of the season. But with a lot of discussion, we felt that he was pretty sure that this was what he wanted to do. He’s pretty close to the family and he thought that this was something that he could do to honor him.”

“I thought that Findlay did a great job of trying to force us into things that are really uncomfortable for us. We had the size advantage and I think that was a big difference in our ability to score. Later in the game we were able to execute better in transition and get some points. We have a lot of guys trying to find themselves and find a spot.”

BYU senior guard Craig Cusick
“I think all of us have our roles on this team and I think that part of my role is to come in and to not slow things down necessarily but to always take care of the ball and to be aggressive at the same time; so keeping a balance and keeping things going. I think that everyone on the team did a good job of doing their roles tonight. “

“We knew that they were a good team. They’re one of the best D-2 teams in the country and so coming out, they came at us. We needed to get it back to our tempo because they were taking us out of our tempo a little bit but once we got back to moving the ball, we then started to get it going.”
