BYU Athletics has completed plans to implement a new ticketing structure for men’s basketball in the 2023-24 season.

The new structure comes after extensive analysis of peer institutions and the need to increase revenue as we enter the Big 12 Conference.

We are reseating the Marriott Center to be able to provide season-ticket-purchasing opportunities according to priority points.

How the Process Works

Those interested in men’s basketball season tickets can fill out an interest form. Those who held season tickets last season do not need to fill out the form and will automatically receive a selection time/timeslot to select tickets. The BYU Ticket Office will provide a timeslot to those who fill out the form based on priority points. Within that timeslot, you can select the seats you want online. The ticket office is available to help over the phone, if needed.

How Priority Points Work

Priority in the reseating process is granted to those with the most priority points. Priority points are granted according to Cougar Club level as well as to non-Cougar Club members who have previously bought season tickets. You receive points for each year of continuous season ticket purchases. You also get credit for any past donations if you were previous Cougar Club members and are now lapsed. All of that provides you with points to move up the priority line. Anyone with an account on byutickets.com can log in and view the priority points you currently have.

Example A

Leslie has been a Cougar Club member for five years and donates $125 per year. She has two men’s basketball season tickets. She has priority points, being at the Royal Cougar level of the Cougar Club.

Example B

Ron is not a Cougar Club member. He has had three men’s basketball season tickets for the past 10 years. Even though he’s not a Cougar Club member, he does have priority points, having bought season tickets in consecutive seasons.

Example C

Ann is a brand new Cougar Club member. She just joined and is excited for Big 12 action in the Marriott Center. She has made an initial donation of $100,000 to BYU Athletics. Because of her donation amount, which will put her at a higher Cougar Club level, she will get an earlier priority selection time.

*Note that Leslie and Ron are welcome to increase their donations and/or join Cougar Club, which will bump them up the priority line. However, we can not guarantee how many like Ann will jump the line in front of them. This is the reason why we can’t automatically allow for renewing the exact same seats before we go through the reseating process. Donor interest continues to increase, and BYU Athletics must be responsive to that demand. Also note that even though Leslie and Ron will get a timeslots to select season tickets, there is no guarantee that tickets will still be available for them to select, as there is a possibility that all season tickets available will be purchased before the timeslots at their priority level. It will depend on the amount of people who choose to purchase before them as well as the number of tickets they choose to purchase.

Ticket Purchase Limits

Be aware that there are ticket purchasing limits, depending upon your Cougar Club level. These start at a total of 10 tickets for Athletic Directors Circle and Legacy VI level members and range down to four for other Cougar Club members. You can see details on this, along with ticket prices and a seating chart on the BYU Tickets site.

Parking

With the increase in demand for tickets and the growth of Cougar Club members, parking privileges will be adjusted this year. Be aware that you may find yourself in a different lot this season. Also, be aware that we will be moving to digital parking passes this season.

FAQs

Q: Why are we reseating the Marriott Center, and why are ticket prices increasing?
A: We need strong and new revenue generation processes. Reseating and raising the ticket price helps us achieve this goal by encouraging donations and increasing revenue. Ultimately, this helps put our athletic department in the best position possible to take care of our student-athletes, hire and retain the best coaches and staff possible and put together the best product we can, that all of Cougar Nation can be proud of and that can promote the mission and aims of Brigham Young University in the very best ways.

Q: Will I get my same seat?
A: Most likely not. Everyone in both the Upper and Lower Bowl will be reseated. Fans will then begin choosing new seating locations in order of Cougar Club level and Priority Points. It is unlikely that anyone will be able to choose the exact location they had in 2022. The exception is for facility donors.

Q: How do I get a timeslot to purchase season tickets?
A: Season ticket holders from last season will automatically receive a timeslot. Due to high demand, we encourage you to join the Cougar Club to have the best opportunity to purchase season tickets. If you did not have season tickets last season, you must fill out this form to receive a timeslot.

Q: How is my time to choose determined?
A: Selection times are determined by Cougar Club membership levels and then by Priority Points within that level. The general public (non-Cougar Club) will select based on Priority Points after Cougar Club members have selected.

Q: Do I have to be a member of Cougar Club to buy season tickets?
A: Not necessarily. Due to high demand, we encourage you to join the Cougar Club to have the best opportunity to purchase season tickets. Being a member of Cougar Club gives a person priority to select their seats earlier. The higher level in the Cougar Club, the earlier priority selection time is provided. Only Legacy I and higher Cougar Club members are eligible purchase season tickets in the Lower Bowl.

Q: Is there a cap on the amount of season tickets and ROC tickets?
A: Yes. We have capped these types of tickets. Limits can be found at cougarclub.com.

Q: Will my seats be renewable going forward?
A: It is expected that you may renew your seats on a year-by-year basis. You will need to maintain the same or higher level of Cougar Club membership to be eligible to renew the same seats. However, BYU reserves the right to reseat the Marriott Center at any time.
Note: Prime Chairs in the Lower Bowl and Floor Seats are not renewable. See price map here.

Q: What is a Marriott Center facility donor?
A: Facility donors are a select group of fans who contributed financially to the building of the Marriott Center. Thanks to their original donation, they are entitled to purchase seats in the arena each season. As part of their initial contract, these seats can be passed down one generation. These are the only seats that may be inherited by a family member.

Q: When is the renewal period for facility donors?
A: June 20 - 23. Payment must be received no later than June 30. A three-payment option will be available.

Q: How will reseating affect my facility donor seats?
A: Seat location for facility donors will not be affected.

Q: What happens if I do not renew my facility donor seats?
A: If you choose not to renew, all seats will return to BYU, and you will not be eligible to purchase them going forward.

Q: What happens if I have other seats in addition to my Facility Donor seats?
A: Only your Facility Donor seats will be eligible to renew during the Facility Donor process from June 20-23. If you would like additional seats, fill out this form to receive a timeslot and opportunity to buy based on Cougar Club level and Priority Points.
