SAN BRUNO, Calif. – The West Coast Conference announced its 2011-12 conference men’s basketball television schedule today with nearly 80 percent of this year’s conference games (57 of 72) televised on a national, regional, or local level.

Seventeen of those games will be broadcast on the ESPN family networks and an additional 40 games will be aired in themarkets of both competing teams through conference and school partnerships with Comcast, Fox, Cox, ROOT Sports and BYUtv. In addition, the 15 non-televisedgames will be streamed live on the internet via the host institution’s official web page.

“This is an exciting time to be a part of the West Coast Conference with the addition of BYU and one of the top men’s basketball television packages in the country,” WCC Commissioner Jamie Zaninovich said. “The 2011-12 conference season will be one of the most competitive in the history of the WCC and we are pleased to have that race play out over regional and national television in January and February, thanks to our phenomenal group of television partners.”

The West Coast Conference is partnering this season with Comcast California/Bay Area/Northwest, Fox Sports West/Prime Ticket, BYUtv and Channel 4 San Diego to create a 26-game regional syndication package. Most games will be broadcast live in the markets of both participating teams, including seven of the top 55 markets in the nation: Los Angeles, San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento, Portland, Salt Lake City, Seattle and San Diego.

Last season, five West Coast Conference teams competed in the postseason for the first time in conference history.  Gonzaga, the 2011 Zappos.com West Coast Conference Tournament Champion, made its 13th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament.  Saint Mary’s, which shared the regular season championship with Gonzaga, took part in the NIT for the second time in three years.  Santa Clara, San Francisco, and Portland each participated in the Collegeinsider.com Postseason Tournament, with the Broncos winning that event. In addition, Brigham Young, competing as a member of the Mountain West Conference, advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 for the first time in 20 years.
