BYU Celebrates Season at Annual Banquet
PROVO, Utah -- BYU men's basketball celebrated its record-setting 2010-11 season at its annual awards banquet Wednesday night at the Provo Marriott.
In 2010-11, the Cougars won a school-record 32 games, were ranked as high as No. 3 in the nation and advanced to the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1981. The season marks the fifth-straight BYU has won at least 25 games, earned an NCAA Tournament bid and been ranked in the top 25 — all firsts for the program.
Rose recognized and expressed gratitude to all those who made the 2010-11 season a success, including the players, coaches, wives, family members, doctors, trainers, managers, academic advisors and the many others who support the program.
KSL Newradio’s Greg Wrubell — the voice of the Cougars — served as master of ceremonies and listed the numerous highlights and milestones achieved by the 2010-11 team. Andy Brimhall of BYU athletic communications video captured the many accomplishments and memories of the year with a video presentation highlighting each player and many of the key moments, including the NCAA Tournament and winning the MWC regular season title.
Rose then presented the team awards, including framed jerseys for the seniors, Jackson Emery, Logan Magnusson, Jimmer Fredette and James Anderson. Anderson played three seasons for BYU and will graduate this summer and pursue job opportunities in place of playing his senior season for the Cougars. Emery, Magnusson and Fredette all completed their eligibility this season.
