CBSSports.com Names Fredette Player of the Year

PROVO -- BYU senior guard Jimmer Fredette has been named the CBSSports.com National Player of the Year. CBSSports.com also named Fredette to its All-America First Team on Tuesday.

The Glens Falls, N.Y., native leads the nation in scoring at 27.9 points per game and adds 4.3 assists and 1.5 steals per game. He led the Cougars to a 28-3 record in the regular season, a share of the Mountain West Conference regular season title at 14-2 and a top 10 ranking for the past eight weeks.

Yahoo! Sports and FoxSports.com have also named Fredette an All-American. On Monday, Fredette was named the MWC Player of the Year and to the All-MWC First Team.

The Cougars open the Conoco MWC Tournament on Thursday as the top seed against Wyoming or TCU. Tipoff is scheduled for 12 p.m. PT and will be televised live on The Mtn. Fans can also listen live on KSL Newsradio 102.7 FM and 1160 AM or online at KSL.com.
