Where would you be without basketball?

I’d probably still be going to BYU. It was always my dream to go to BYU. I’d just be going to school in the business program. I think I’d just be going to school and taking classes everyday, which doesn’t sound as fun to me.

Why Basketball?

Just from an early age I’d go outside and shoot with my dad from five to six. I was taller than everyone else which helped. Ever since I was young I’ve always loved the game of basketball. When I got to my high school years I noticed that if I worked hard enough I’d be able to take it to the next level and be able to play in college if I wanted to.

Why do you love basketball?

In basketball you learn things about life, work ethic and principles and skills that can be with you for the rest of your life. Basketball is not just about having fun and winning, which are very important, but it’s also about teaching you things and building a family with your teammates and coaches that you can’t find anywhere else.

Any advice for young players?

The first thing that comes to mind is work ethic. If you’re working harder than every body else, even though you might not be blessed with the skills that other people have, if you work hard enough then you’ll be able to surpass them and be where you want to be. It’s all about working hard and staying focused in life and not doing things that might mess up your chances of going to college and playing the sport that you love.
