Fredette Named MWC Player of the Week
COLORADO SPRINGS -- BYU junior Jimmer Fredette has been named the Mountain West Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for games through November 15. This is the third weekly accolade of his career.
A 6-2 guard from Glen Falls, N.Y., Fredette led the Cougars to a season-opening win over Bradley (70-60) last Friday, Nov. 13. He scored a game-high 25 points on 6-of-14 shooting, while also recording five rebounds and four assists in 37 minutes. Fredette scored 16 of his 25 points in the second half, while also dishing out three assists. He also went 12-of-14 from the charity stripe in the second half, including hitting his last 12 attempts, six of which came in the final five minutes of the contest.
Fredette has 805 career points and earned All-MWC First Team honors in 2008-09. He averaged 16.2 points and 4.1 assists while shooting .382 from downtown and .847 from the free throw line. Fredette was voted the MWC Preseason Player of the Year by the media for the 2009-10 season.
