BYU Basketball Team Debuts Wednesday at Varsity Preview
PROVO -- The BYU men's basketball team will make its 1999-2000 season debut at the annual Varsity Preview, Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Marriott Center.
Sponsored by the BYU Cougar Club, the Varsity Preview will include a 40-minute intrasquad game, with three-point shooting and slam dunk contests at half time.
The emcee for the Varsity Preview will be KSL Radio personality Greg Wrubell, the play-by-play announcer for BYU Basketball. Following the Preview, team pictures will be distributed by the BYU players.
"The Cougar Club is excited to sponsor the Varsity Preview and provide the community with an opportunity to meet this year's basketball team," Cougar Club Director Michael Middleton said. "This is a very fun event and an excellent chance to showcase the team."
The event is free for all season ticket holders and for BYU students with a current university ID card. Youth groups can also attend free of charge if accompanied by adult supervisors and the invitation flier that was mailed to many local youth groups. Groups interested in attending can call the Cougar Club at 378-2583. There is a $2 charge for others who wish to attend the event.
The Cougars will play their first exhibition game on Nov. 10 against Nanuwading Spectres, a professional team from Melbourne, Australia. Tip off will be at 7 p.m. in the Marriott Center.
