The following notes and quotes are from BYU men’s basketball 83-80 win against No. 21 Creighton on Saturday evening in the Jack Jones Hoopfest at Michelob ULTRA Arena in Las Vegas. 

Series Results: BYU leads 8-4 including a 2-1 record at neutral sites.

TEAM NOTES

Fourth Time the Charm

The Cougars started their fourth different lineup on Saturday evening in the Sin City with Dallin Hall, Jaxson Robinson, Gideon George and Noah Waterman and Fousseyni Traore getting the starting nod. 

‘Tis The Season

BYU dished 21 assists in Saturday’s win, marking the second time this season they have 20-plus assists this season. 

That’s Our Glass

BYU has hauled down 10 or more offensive rebounds in all 11 games this season including 16 on Saturday night. 

Total Team Effort 

Five different Cougars scored in double figures for the second time this season and first since their 100-70 victory over Westminster at Vivint Arena.  

First Time For Everything

BYU picked up its first win in program history over a team ranked 21st in the AP Poll after entering Saturday’s contest 0-6. 

PLAYERS NOTES

Making It 10 Straight

Jaxson Robinson extended his 3-point streak to 10 games with his first 3-pointer of the contest at the 14:53 mark in the first half. Since going 0-for-4 in the season opener against Idaho State, the sophomore has made one or more trifectas in every game since. 

Starting Strong

Rudi Wiliams finished with 16 first half points, marking the third time in the past four games he has scored in double figures in the opening 20 minutes. It also marked the second time in his NCAA Division I career that he has scored in double figures off the bench in consecutive games. 

Williams Doing What He Can

Williams’ 26 points are the seventh-most by a bench player in program history. He is one of six players in program history to score 26 in a game off the bench. 

Double Trouble

Fousseyni Traore recorded his fourth double-double of the season as the sophomore finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds. He also had five or more offensive rebounds for the third time this season. 

Six of his career 13 double-doubles have come in neutral site contests.
