BYU now No. 15 in the polls
PROVO, Utah – After closing out the regular season with an 81-64 win at Pepperdine, BYU men’s basketball moved up to No. 15 in the Associated Press Top 25 and tied for No. 15 in the USA Today Coaches Poll. The Cougars have been ranked for three-straight weeks in the AP Poll and back-to-back weeks in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
Head coach Mark Pope has led the Cougars to a nine-game win streak to end the regular season. BYU is 24-7 overall and finished second in the West Coast Conference at 13-3. The Cougars own the No. 2 seed and a bye to the semifinals in the University Credit Union WCC Basketball Tournament at the Orleans Arena in Las Vegas.
BYU also measures well in several other polls and metrics, coming in at No. 9 in the NCAA Men’s Basketball NET Rankings, No. 11 at Kenpom.com, No. 14 in ESPN’s College Basketball Power Index, No. 12 in Andy Katz’ Power 36 on NCAA.com, No. 14 in Jeff Goodman’s Top 25 Rankings, No. 17 in the CBSsports.com Top 25 and 1 rankings, No. 13 in Jon Rothstein's CBS Insider Poll and No. 17 in the NBC Sports Power Rankings.
The Cougars’ semifinal game in the WCC Tournament is Monday, March 9, at 8:30 p.m. PDT in the Orleans Arena. The game will be televised on ESPN2 and the radio broadcast will be available live on the BYU Sports Network, BYU Radio – Sirius XM 143/89.1 FM HD2 and KSL 102.7 FM/1160 AM.
