BYU reflects on 2018-19 season at annual banquet

PROVO, Utah – BYU men’s basketball looked back at the 2018-19 season at its annual banquet Tuesday night in the Marriott Center Annex.

The Cougars finished 19-13 overall and tied for second at 11-5 in the West Coast Conference in 2018-19.

Individual highlights during 2018-19 included junior Yoeli Childs earning All-WCC First Team honors and junior guard TJ Haws being named to the second team. Both players also earned NABC All-District honors while Childs also earned USBWA All-District honors. Freshman forward Gavin Baxter was also named to the All-WCC Freshman Team.

Voice of the Cougars Greg Wrubell served as master of ceremonies and listed the highlights, awards and milestones achieved by the team in 2018-19. Coach Dave Rose, who announced his retirement earlier in the day at a press conference in the Marriott Center, also reflected on his 22-year career at BYU.

Rose presented the following team awards:

Academic Excellence: TJ Haws
Best Conditioned Player: McKay Cannon
Most Improved Player: Gavin Baxter
Inspirational Teammate: Luke Worthington
Coaches Award: McKay Cannon
Competitive Spirit: Zac Seljaas
Most Outstanding Player: Yoeli Childs and TJ Haws
Team Captains: TJ Haws and Luke Worthington
