PLAYER NOTES

Nick Emery’s 37 points set a BYU freshman single-game scoring record as he hit 12 of 15 from the field, including 10 of 12 from three. Danny Ainge held the previous freshman record of 36, set on Dec. 3, 1977, against Idaho State. Emery’s 10 threes are a freshman record and tied for first all-time for players from all classes with Chase Fischer.

• 8th 20-point game tied him with Fred Roberts for 4th-most by a Cougar freshman.
• Broke into the top 15 for 3-pointers in a season in school history at 67, tied for 12th
• 20 points at halftime was a season high for the first half

  Kyle Collinsworth scored in double figures for the 88th time in his career as he went 8 of 12 from the field for 17 points. His 1,530 career points passed Jonathan Tavernari (1,519) for 14th on the BYU all-time scoring list.

Chase Fischer extends his streak of consecutive games with a three to 15, tied for 8th-longest streak in BYU history. He joined Jackson Emery and Jonathan Tavernari as only Cougars with two seasons with 80-plus 3-pointers. Fischer made 103 threes last season.

Jordan Chatman had career highs of 11 points and three 3-pointers.

Zac Seljaas broke a tie with Mark Bigelow for second-most threes by a BYU freshman with 45.

Corbin Kaufusi had his second career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. His 10 rebounds ties a career high.

After playing in tonight's game, Nate Austin became BYU's all-time leader in games played at 142, passing Charles Abouo (141).

TEAM NOTES

The 114-89 victory over San Francisco gave BYU coach Dave Rose career win number 275.

114 points are the most scored by the Cougars against an NCAA Division I team since scoring 128 against Sacramento State on Feb. 25, 1993. It was the second 100-plus point game this season for BYU.

BYU set a program record for most 3-pointers against a Division I opponent with 17. The nine 3-pointers in the first half tied for the most in a half this season. Cougars also made nine in the first half against New Mexico in Hawaii. It was BYU's 8th game this season with 10-plus 3-point field goals. Six players scored in double figures for the first time since November 19, 2014, in a win over Southern Virginia.

The 58 points scored by halftime is the most by the Cougars in a half this season and the highest scoring half since scoring 60 in the second at Utah State on Dec. 2, 2014.
The 58-39 lead was the second-largest halftime advantage for BYU this season. The 56 points in the second half are the most scored by the Cougars in a second half this season.

On the game tonight:
It was a really well-played game by our guys. We had so many individual plays that we needed to make. It seemed like we made the right play. We made the pass at the rim for a dump-off and a score. We made the dribble-drive and score at the rim. We made the dribble-drive and when they helped, we kicked it to the corner for three. We were really good tonight offensively and I think our guys were good in practice this week. They challenged themselves. As a coaching staff, obviously it wasn’t the happiest result on Saturday, but these guys really responded well. We’re happy for them because it has been a long few days. 

On team’s response after Pacific loss:
These guys are really good at responding to tough things. It’s a team that can do hard things. We’re not as good at responding when things are good. That’s what we really need to correct. For us to get what we really want, we’re going to have to win three games back to back to back in Vegas. Hopefully we can do some things tomorrow that will prepare us better and we’ll be more locked in and ready to go on Saturday.

On setting the BYU single-game freshman scoring record:
I didn’t even know about that until after the game, but following in Danny’s footsteps—there are great examples before me. I was able just to knock down shots tonight. I didn’t know how many threes I had hit until after the game. That’s a heck of an honor and I’m just blessed.

On tying Chase Fischer’s 10 3-pointers:
Fisch kept telling me to shoot it and they found me on the wing. It was just one of those nights. I love this gym and the feel in here and was able to knock down those shots.

On the deep three by the coach’s box:
I didn’t know how deep I was. I saw Kyle and I was trailing him. Kyle found me and I shot it, and I was like, ‘Oh crap, I’m deep.’ It went in and I turned around and I just smiled. It was just one of those nights.
