Quotes

BYU head coach Dave Rose

"There were times out there that I thought we were really good, especially at sharing the ball. I don't think we overpassed. There were times that we made the right decision and put the ball right where we needed to do, but we didn't finish it. We stayed with it and shared it really well. 23 assists is a good number. We turned it over a lot more than I would like, but I think all-in-all, it was a good game. We played a lot of guys that haven't played a lot of minutes in the past week or two, so it was good to get them out there and see them produce.”

Slow start:

“We look really winded when we first came out, which I felt would be an issue. We haven't played here for awhile, and those lights bring a change in the feeling of the game  We missed one really good possession at the beginning, but we needed to get the ball inside and we weren't doing it. That timeout was just to get that going. Kyle Davis came out and got the first basket off the backboard and we scored. Jacko had his way with us for the first eight to 10 minutes of the game and I talked about that in the timeout too. We caught out second wind and settled down a bit.”

Jordan Chatman

Such a quick turnaround against LMU:

“It was fun. We knew what they were going to do. They kind of stuck it to us last week. We were down a lot of that game, so we wanted to come back and get revenge.”

Sharing the ball:

“I think we did a good job. It was definitely an emphasis for us to get other people involved.”

Bench minutes:

“Usually, the starters are hot, so it's usually whatever we're asked to do. We have to come in and contribute. If we want to be a good team on the road, the starters will still have to keep doing what they're doing, but the bench is going to have to step up its game.”

Corbin Kaufusi

Why the blowout:

“I think a lot of it had to do with being back at the Marriott Center. We love this place and our fan base. It's nice to come back and play in front of them.”

Pepperdine on Saturday:

“It will be the same challenge that they gave us when we were there, especially since they've been able to get us in the past games we've played them this year and last year. It will be a big challenge, but we're excited to get them here.”

LMU head coach Mike Dunlap

“We shot the ball poorly, especially from the three. There were good looks, but we couldn’t get back up, which bled into our defense. We are a young team, so when the ball doesn’t go down at a fair rate, the intensity goes down on the defensive side.”

“BYU did a nice job of getting the ball inside. They can shoot the ball from the perimeter, so when they play small ball, they have four guys you have to respect.”
