PROVO, Utah – Coach Dave Rose announced Thursday that 6-foot-4 guard Elijah Bryant will transfer to BYU from Elon. Bryant, the 2014-15 Colonial Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year, will sit out the 2015-16 season and have three years of eligibility remaining.

"Elijah is a great player that will come to BYU with a tremendous amount of experience,” Rose said. "He is very skilled, and his strengths complement our strengths.  We look forward to having Elijah in our program."

A native of Gwinnett, Georgia, Bryant was Elon’s most versatile player last season as he was among the team leaders in several statistical categories. He led the Phoenix in scoring at 14.2 points per game and was second in assists (2.7 per game), steals (1.3 per game) and 3-point field goals (44) and third in rebounding (4.2 per game).

For the season, Bryant scored in double figures in 27 of 33 games and had 20-plus points six times. He posted a season-high 32 points against Drexel and had a double-double at William & Mary with 15 points and 10 boards. One of his best games came against William & Mary at home when he hit a season-best six 3s en route to 25 points, six boards and six assists.

In addition to being named the CAA Rookie of the Year, Bryant was also named to the All-CAA Third Team, the only freshman to earn all-league honors. Bryant was also named Elon’s team MVP.

Bryant prepped at New Hampton School in New Hampshire. He averaged 13 points, four boards and four assists while leading the Huskies to the NEPSAC AAA final.
