Quotes

BYU head coach Dave Rose

Had a shot at the end:

"We battled. We just weren't good enough. We went through quite a few stretches where we were not effective enough. They were really, really good around the rim most of the night as far as rebounding the ball."

Saint Mary's finish to the first half:

"It started on the offensive end and it ended up a defensive problem. We had three wide open looks and they all came off and didn't score for us. Then we begged the kid to shoot the first one and he made it. The second one, we were slow and then (Naar) hit another one. Those are things you can recover from, but they put you in a hole and it makes you work that much harder."

"There are times when we just fell apart. That is really uncharacteristic of our team. These guys found themselves and we had a point where we got it down to a possession game. We needed to make a big play and Waldow found the right guy."

SMC's rebounding:

"You know the challenge, this team is built on rebounding...It's what they do. It's what they're good at and we weren't good enough tonight to break it up."

Skyler Halford

Tough loss:

"We really wanted this one, it's tough to win on the road especially saint marts, they play great here its a great env we just didn't come out on top, saint marts played a great game and we just couldn't capitalize enough to counteract what they were doing."

Halford's Shooting:

"I feel confident, I'm just trying to stay confident in myself nd my teammates, when your number is allied and your the guy with the open shot you've got to knock it down and i'm just trying to do that."

SMC's run before the half:

"They went on a little bit of a run. We had a couple mental lapses as a team and they made some plays and we went into the half down eight. We came back in the second half we just didn't have enough."

What needs to happen to achieve team's goals:

"We've just got to keep improving. Everyday we've got to stay positive. We can't give up. We can't let down. We've just got to get better. We're right there and I have total and complete confidence in this team that we can make some great things happen this year and I don't doubt that we will."
