Halford named to NABC Honors Court

PROVO, Utah – BYU junior guard Skyler Halford has been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches Honors Court.

The NABC Honors Court recognizes those men’s collegiate basketball student-athletes who excelled in academics during the past season. Close to 900 student-athletes from more than 335 colleges and universities earned NABC Honors Court distinction.

In order to be named to the Honors Court, a student-athlete must meet a high standard of academic criteria. The qualifications are as follows:

1. Academically a junior or senior and a varsity player.
2. Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.2 or higher at the conclusion of the 2013-14 academic year.
3. Students must have matriculated at least one year at their current institution.
4. Member of an NCAA Division I, II, III, or NAIA Division I or II institution with a NABC member coach.

Halford was one of nine WCC men’s basketball players to be named the NABC Honors Court. He holds a 3.28 cumulative GPA and is majoring in Geography.

This past season, Halford played in all 35 games and started 13 times. He averaged 7.0 points, 1.4 rebounds and 1.0 assist while shooting 43.1 percent from the field and 84.5 percent from the free throw line.
