Haws receives USBWA All-District honor
PROVO, Utah – The United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) named BYU's Tyler Haws to its All-District VIII team on Tuesday. It is the second straight year Haws has been named to the All-District team.
Haws, a junior guard, averages 23.4 points per game and led the West Coast Conference in scoring for the second straight season. Haws is currently sixth in the nation in scoring and has moved into the top five in career scoring at BYU with 1,901 points. Haws also earned WCC Player of the Year and was named to the All-WCC Team for the second straight season. The Alpine, Utah, native averages 23.4 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1 steal per game. Haws also leads the team in free throws made, attempted and free throw percentage.
The USBWA District VIII includes all NCAA Division I institutions from Wyoming, Utah, Idaho, New Mexico, Colorado, Nevada and Montana. Nine districts are represented from coast to coast and a player and coach of the year are selected in each division. The 2013-14 Men's All-District Teams are based on voting from its national membership.
