Rose undergoes surgery as part of cancer treatment, full recovery expected
SALT LAKE CITY – BYU basketball coach Dave Rose underwent surgery today as part of his cancer treatment at the Huntsman Cancer Hospital.
It was deemed necessary that Rose undergo surgery to remove cancerous spots that were discovered during Rose's most recent routine cancer screening. The surgery was performed by Dr. Courtney Scaife.
"The surgery went well," Dr. Scaife said. "I expect him to make a full recovery."
Rose has undergone cancer screenings every six months since he was diagnosed with pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor cancer in June 2009.
Rose is expected to be ready to coach when the Cougars begin official practice to prepare for the 2013-14 season on Oct. 7.
