Player Notes

• Tyler Haws finished with 25 points for his 34th game in double digits and 25th with 20-plus. Haws now has 1,177 career points, passing Kari Liimo and Randy Reid to tie Joe Richey for 28th all-time at BYU. Haws finished the season with 780 points, good for fourth most points in a single season in BYU history.

• Brandon Davies finished with 13 points for his 35th game in double digits. Davies now has 1,680 career points, good for 10th all-time at BYU.

• Nate Austin finished with a near double-double on 9 points and a career-high 11 rebounds.

• Matt Carlino finished with 19 points for his 21st game in double digits. Carlino tied his season high by making five 3-pointers, all in the second half. He was the only player on the team to make a 3-pointer.

• Tyler Haws reached double-digit points with a jumper after 30 seconds of play in the second half to tie the score at 35-35.

• Brandon Davies reached double-digit points with a layup at the 14:31 mark of the second half to cut Baylor’s lead to 44-43.

• Matt Carlino reached double-digit points with a 3-pointer at the 7:41 mark of the second half to tie the score at 52-52.

"I feel like there's only two happy teams at the end of the year - the team that wins the NCAA and the team that wins the NIT. We aren't in the NCAA tournament so we just want to be that other happy team. It was huge for us to be able to make runs at the end of the game. Until Matt (Carlino) started making all those threes I was feeling pretty comfortable. A lot of credit to BYU for competing hard and never giving up. We have a lot of respect for them and new it would be tough - we had to work hard."

"Congratulations to Coach Drew and the Baylor team. I thought they were just terrific down the stretch. They made every big play that they needed to make and I thought it was a great game. I thought both teams played hard. I thought it was a well‑played game. I'm really proud of our guys.""But I think that the big plays that were made by Baylor down the stretch were probably the difference in the game. Again, I'm just really proud of our guys how we fought back from being 10 down and got it to a one‑possession game."

"I think that Nate's (Austin) effort the last month and a half of the season has been terrific. We had a hard time keeping him on the floor because he was in foul trouble quite a bit. But the last three or four games he's been so valuable to our team, and it's been a great experience for a young guy."

"I was just trying to keep us in it by making threes – there was still a lot of time left so I wanted to get us as close as we could. I wish some of those had gone down earlier to make it more interesting. We did a lot tonight, I'm really proud of our team, but in the end it just wasn't enough. We created a lot of momentum and I just hope it carries into next year."

"It was tough in the locker room after to have our last moments together as a team. I have a great relationship with all these guys. It's as much losing the game as it is not seeing them all again for a while."
