Several Cougars among Midseason All-Independent Team

CLEVELAND, OH - Phil Steele released his Midseason All-Independent Team, featuring 15 BYU players, including nine on the first team. 

Notre Dame led the group with 21 players making the all-indepedent team, including 13 on the first eam. Army had 10 players on the list and Navy had eight. 

Junior wide receiver Cody Hoffman and senior offensive lineman Braden Hansen were selected to the first team offense, with freshman running back Jamaal Williams, junior tight end Kaneakua Friel and senior offensive lineman Braden Brown on the second team. 

BYU had five players on the first team defense including senior defensive lineman Ezekiel Ansah, junior linebacker Kyle Van Noy, senior linebacker Brandon Ogletree, senior defensive back Preston Hadley and sophomore defensive back Jordan Johnson. Senior defensive lineman Romney Fuga, junior linebacker Spencer Hadley and junior defensive back Daniel Sorensen made the second team defense. 

Senior punter Riley Stephenson and junior punt returner JD Falslev were honored on the first team special teams. 

The Cougars challenge No. 10 Oregon State Saturday as part of BYU's homecoming weekend. Kickoff is set for 1:30 MT. The game will be broadcast regionally on ABC.
