Notre Dame wide receiver Michael Floyd, Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te’o and BYU punt returner J.D. Falslev have been named FBS Independent Players of the Week, for games through Oct. 29.  Floyd is cited on Offense, Te’o is honored on Defense and Falslev is tabbed on Special Teams.  Floyd’s award is his third of the season, while Te’o is a two-time honoree and Falslev is honored for the first time.

SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK

BYU PR J.D. Falslev
A sophomore from Logan, Utah, Falslev provided a second-half spark during BYU’s 38-28 loss to TCU at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.  With the Cougars trailing 35-13 late in the third quarter, Falslev returned a punt 67 yards for a touchdown--BYU’s first punt return TD since Nov. 9, 2006, a span of 64 games.

Falslev also garnered National Punt Returner of the Week accolades from College Football Performance Awards.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Notre Dame WR Michael Floyd
A senior from St. Paul, Minn., Floyd hauled in six receptions for 121 yards and a touchdown in Notre Dame’s 56-14 home win over Navy.  Floyd added his first career rushing touchdown--a 10-yard score--as the Fighting Irish snapped a two-game losing streak to the Midshipmen at Notre Dame Stadium.  Notre Dame’s career leader in receptions, touchdown receptions and receiving yards, Floyd extended a school record with his 17th 100-yard receiving effort.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Notre Dame LB Manti Te’o
A junior from Laie, Hawaii, Te’o was Notre Dame’s top tackler as the Fighting Irish defeated Navy 56-14 in South Bend.  Te’o’s game-high 13 tackles included two and a half tackles for loss; his half tackle was a shared quarterback sack.  The double-digit takedown effort is Te’o’s sixth of the season, and he has also led the Irish tackle tally six times in eight games.
