BYU Ranked No. 19 and 20 in National Polls

PROVO -- BYU is ranked No. 19 in this week’s Associated Press Top 25 and No. 20 in the USA Today Coaches’ Poll. After defeating BYU on Saturday, Florida State returns to the Top 25 at No. 18 in AP and No. 25 in the coaches’ poll.

The Cougars fell from a No. 7 and No. 9 in the AP and coaches’ polls, respectively, after their loss to the Seminoles on Saturday. Last week’s No. 3-ranked team USC also fell in the polls after being upset by Washington on Saturday. The Trojans are ranked No. 10 in the coaches’ poll and No. 12 in AP while the Huskies, coached by former BYU quarterback Steve Sarkisian, enter the rankings at No. 24 in AP.

Florida, Texas and Alabama are the top three teams in both polls. Mississippi and Penn State claim the next two spots with Mississippi ranked fourth by AP and Penn State at No. 4 in the coaches’ poll.

TCU joins BYU in representing the Mountain West Conference in the Top 25 again this week. The Horned Frogs (2-0) are ranked No. 14 in the coaches’ poll and No. 15 in AP. Utah (2-1) fell out of both polls after a loss at Oregon on Saturday.

With a 2-1 record, the Cougars are now 150-45 when ranked in the Top 25 and have won 19 of their last 23 games as a ranked team, dating back to 2006.

The Cougars will host Colorado State (3-0) on Saturday in LaVell Edwards Stadium to begin their MWC schedule. Saturday’s game will be broadcast live on The Mtn. beginning at 4 p.m. MT.
