Sitake one of eight finalists for Polynesian Football Hall of Fame
HONOLULU — BYU head football coach Kalani Sitake is one of eight finalists on the 2022 ballot for the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame.
The finalists were selected from a field of over 100 nominees by the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Selection Committee and officially announced on Oct. 21.
The eight finalists candidates for the 2022 class are included below:
- Tony Banks, former quarterback at Michigan State and 10 year NFL veteran
- Malcom Floyd, Wyoming receiver and 10 year NFL veteran
- Mike Iupati, Idaho offensive lineman and 10 year NFL veteran
- Tommy Kaulukukui, former Hawai‘i coach
- Chris Kemoeatu, Utah guard and seven year NFL veteran
- Vince Manuwai, Hawaii guard and nine year NFL veteran
- Harry Montague-Field (OL) Hawai‘i and Oregon State offensive lineman and four year NFL veteran
- Kalani Sitake, BYU head football coach.
“Congratulations to each of the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Class of 2022 finalists on this historic achievement,” said Jesse Sapolu, Chairman and Co-Founder. “Each finalist has had a tremendous football career and they represent the very best of our Polynesian people.”
The Selection Committee and all living Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Inductees will vote in the coming weeks on who will be inducted into the Polynesian Football Hall of Fame Class of 2022. The three inductees will be announced on Nov. 4.
The Polynesian Football Hall of Fame honors Polynesia’s greatest players, coaches, and contributors. Its permanent home is located at the Polynesian Cultural Center and was established in 2013 by Super Bowl Champions Jesse Sapolu and Ma’a Tanuvasa. Other board members include Troy Polamalu, June Jones and former BYU Cougars Vai Sikahema and Reno Mahe.
