Baylor Romney, Tyler Allgeier receive weekly honors
PROVO, Utah – BYU quarterback Baylor Romney and linebacker Tyler Allgeier were honored for their performances following BYU’s 28-25 upset of No. 14 Boise State last week.
Romney, out of Franklin High School in El-Paso, Texas, was an honorable mention for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Player of the Week Award, given to the best player with Texas ties.
A redshirt freshman in his first career start, he threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Cougar offense against the Broncos.
Allgeier, another redshirt freshman, played his best game as a linebacker since switching over from running back and earned the College Sports Madness Defensive Player of the Week honor for the independent teams.
The California product racked up a career-best nine tackles on Saturday night. He was part of a BYU defense that held the potent Bronco offense to 359 total yards and forced two turnovers.
