PROVO, Utah (Sept. 23, 2018) — Off to a 3-1 start to the 2018 season, BYU football moved up five places to No. 20 in The Associated Press Top 25 released on Sunday.

The Cougars entered the AP rankings last week at No. 25 following their 24-21 upset of then-No. 6 Wisconsin at Camp Randall Stadium. BYU is coming off a 30-3 victory over McNeese State on Saturday at LaVell Edwards Stadium. The Cougars opened the season with a road victory at Arizona (28-23) before suffering a three-point home loss to Cal (21-18), who entered the Top 25 this week at No. 24 with its 3-0 start.

BYU is ranked in back-to-back weeks for the first time since the 2015 season, when the Cougars were ranked as high as No. 19 in the AP poll.

This week BYU also moved up among teams receiving votes in the USA Today Amway Coaches Poll to be listed just outside the rankings at 26th. Boise State, the Cougars’ opponent on Nov. 3 in Boise, is ranked 25th. In addition to Cal at No. 24 in the AP poll, other 2018 BYU opponents in this week’s rankings include Washington, ranked No. 11 in both major polls, and Wisconsin, voted No. 13 by the coaches and No. 15 by AP.

The No. 20 Cougars travel to face the No. 11 Huskies (3-1) on Saturday in a 5:30 p.m. PDT matchup at Husky Stadium in Seattle. The game will be televised nationally on FOX. Countdown to Kickoff, a live one-hour pregame show, will be televised nationally on BYUtv starting at 4:30 p.m. PDT.
