CSVA honors BYU football director of video & technology Errol Seaver

PROVO, Utah — The Collegiate Sports Video Association has named BYU's director of football video and technology Errol Seaver the 2017-2018 Independent Video Coordinator of the Year.

Seaver was selected by a majority vote of his peers in the CSVA to receive the Independent Coordinator of the Year honor for a second year in a row.  He is now a finalist for the prestigious Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year award, which will be announced at the annual CSVA banquet on May 17 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

The Bob Matey Award is presented to the Video Coordinator who displays innovation, determination, perseverance, and technical skill as portrayed by the late Bob Matey, legendary Video Coordinator from Texas A&M.

Seaver, who is in his fifth season with the Cougars, oversees all technology needs for the football program.  Along with a staff of 9 students, his responsibilities include filming and editing all practices and games, breaking down opponent and NFL film, creating and managing content for digital signage used throughout the football offices, managing the 55 client in-house video network and over 160 iPads used by coaches and players.

Seaver’s time in Provo has been productive.  Last year, he received the Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year award after being named Independent Video Coordinator of the Year.  2017 saw the upgrades and a redesign to the video room.  Throughout his time in Provo Seaver has streamlined the filming and editing process for the football program. With the installation of fiber optic cable throughout LaVell Edwards Stadium, Seaver and his staff are able to provide coaches and players film within minutes following games.  He has also worked alongside mobile device leader, Apple, to collaborate and share ways in which to improve and increase the use of mobile devices within college athletics.

Prior to BYU, Seaver worked for three seasons as the Director of Football Video at the University of South Alabama, overseeing all video responsibilities for the Jaguars young football program.  Tasked with building a video department from scratch, he built South’s video department into one of the top in the Sun Belt Conference.  He has also worked at the Big 12 Conference office, Jacksonville State University and Lenoir-Rhyne College.

He was previously selected as the Sun Belt Conference Video Coordinator of the Year in 2013-2014 while at South Alabama.  Seaver has served as Secretary of the Collegiate Sports Video Association since 2015.

A native of Hickory, North Carolina, Seaver and his wife, Lindsey, reside in Springville, Utah.
