PROVO, Utah (Oct. 19, 2017) — BYU and East Carolina today announced an additional home-and-home football series slated for the 2022 and 2024 seasons. The first game is scheduled for Oct. 15, 2022, at LaVell Edwards Stadium in Provo, with the second game on Oct. 19, 2024, at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium in Greenville, North Carolina.

BYU and ECU will complete the second game of its first two-game series this Saturday at Dowdy-Ficklen Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. EDT. The first game was played at BYU on Oct. 10, 2015, where the Cougars won a high-scoring affair, 45-38.

“We have enjoyed the opportunity to play teams from the American Athletic Conference, including the current series with East Carolina,” said BYU director of athletics Tom Holmoe. “ECU is a great matchup and it was an easy decision to schedule another series with them. It provides our team with a unique travel opportunity, and it gives Cougar fans who live in the southeast another opportunity to see us play.”

ECU was founded in 1907. The football program began in 1932 and competed as a Division I-A independent from 1978 until accepting membership in C-USA in 1997. The Pirates earned back-to-back C-USA championships in 2008 and 2009 and later joined the AAC in 2014. ECU has won seven conference titles, played in 20 bowl games and had 20 All-Americans.

BYU was founded in 1875 and began playing varsity football in 1922. The Cougars captured the 1984 national championship and have played in 35 bowl games. BYU has also won 23 conference titles and had 13 Consensus All-Americans. The Cougars rank No. 5 nationally in total victories over the past 40 seasons.

Kickoff times and broadcast plans for the BYU-ECU series will be announced at a later date. For more information on BYU football, visit BYUcougars.com
