“Friday Night Lights” spring scrimmage and fan festivities take place this Friday

In addition to football scrimmage, event features kids clinic, autograph signings, fan challenges and prize giveaways

PROVO, Utah — The BYU football team will conduct a “Friday Night Lights” spring scrimmage featuring a variety of fan festivities this Friday at LaVell Edwards Stadium.  The activities begin at 4:30 p.m. MT leading up to the team scrimmage at 6 p.m. Gates open at 4 p.m. and admission is free.

As part of this special evening event, players on the BYU team will conduct a football clinic for kids and an autograph signing session for all fans from 4:30-5:30 p.m. at LaVell Edwards Stadium. Additional fan challenges and prize giveaways take place starting at 5:30 p.m. while the players clear the field to get ready for the scrimmage.  

The clinic, which is available for youth and kids up to the eighth grade, will take place on the field, while the autograph signing will be conducted along the sidelines and in the end zone. Fans coming to get autographs will be provided with a free poster for the players to sign.

Gates 1, 3, 5 (west) and 11 (southeast) will open at 4 p.m. and concessions will be available on the east and west stands as well as food trucks at Gate 1 (southwest). A designated area in the southeast parking lot will be available to fans wanting to tailgate as part of the festivities.

The Cougar IMG Sports Network will provide a radio broadcast of the scrimmage beginning at 6 p.m. on KSL Newsradio 102.7 FM/1160 AM. It will also be available online at BYUCougars.com/liveradio and via BYUCougars and KSL apps. The Voice of the Cougars Greg Wrubell will make the call with additional analysis provided by Marc Lyons in the booth and Nate Meikle from the sidelines. Jason Shepherd will also join the broadcast from the field level. 

The “Friday Night Lights” spring scrimmage is one of 15 practice sessions the team will conduct prior to spring drills concluding on April 3.

Friday Night Lights Schedule

4:00 p.m. — Gates 1,3,5, and 11 will open

4:30 p.m. — Kids Clinic for all kids in 8th grade and below

                       Autograph signing with players (free posters provided)

5:30 p.m. — Team clears the field

                       Fans selected to compete on the field in different challenges

                       Opportunities to win gift packs and prizes

6:00 p.m. — Team enters the field

6:05 p.m. — Team warmups followed by football scrimmage

 

**Tailgating available starting at noon (designated area southeast parking lot)
