PROVO, Utah (March 10, 2015) — BYU head coach Bronco Mendenhall today announced Patrick Hickman has been named director of football operations.

“I’m pleased to announce Patrick Hickman as our director of football operations,” Mendenhall said. “He has done an outstanding job during his nine years at BYU and also as the interim operations director since taking on those responsibilities in December. We look forward to Pat playing a significant role in the success of our program going forward as our director of operations.”

Entering his 10th season with the BYU football program, Hickman has served as the director of player development and high school relations coordinator for the Cougars since coming to Provo from Boise State in 2006. Among his various responsibilities, Hickman has assisted with football operations; served as the program’s liaison with high schools, junior colleges and NFL scouts; coordinated recruiting activities; and directed summer football camps.

“I am grateful for this opportunity and excited to continue to serve and help our student-athletes, coaches and staff here at BYU,” Hickman said. “BYU has a great football tradition, and I’m looking forward to playing my role in building on that tradition.”

Hickman came to BYU after working four seasons at Boise State. His responsibilities with the Bronco Athletic Department included game management, facility management and operations. Hickman started with the Broncos in 2002 after graduating from Boise State with a bachelor’s degree in health promotion in 2001.  He later earned a master’s degree in athletic administration from Idaho State in 2005.

During Hickman’s nine years in Provo, the Cougars have achieved an 84-33 (.718) record, which ranks No. 11 in winning percentage and No. 12 in total wins among all FBS programs over that time period.
